RUMOR: Japanese Steakhouse Coming to Epcot’s Japan Pavilion

An interesting rumor came out today, and that is a new Japanese Steakhouse Coming to Epcot’s Japan Pavilion.  It seems like a strange choice however because more restaurants in World Showcase is not exactly the expansion plans I would be concentrated on at this moment, but I’m always interested in food so my interest is peaked!

(Update 5/16/19) – It has been confirmed that a new signature restaurant is coming to Epcot and Disney has named this new Japanese steakhouse Takumi-Tei.

Steakhouse Epcot's Japan Pavilion

Supposedly the Japanese Steakhouse will be located on the ground floor of the Mitsukoshi store, taking over some of the retail space it’s currently using, plus some backstage storage areas.  You can see the space noted in the red rectangle above.  To enter the new restaurant guest will use an entrance placed to the right of Mitsukoshi with an extended pathway there.

Theming will be a big part of the restaurant with documents stating distinctly themed rooms, including: Lobby, Wa Room, Water Room, Washi Room, Wood Room, Stone Room and Earth Room.

This would be the 3rd table service restaurant in Epcot’s Japan Pavilion, which seems strange to me, but I would really like to try some high quality Waygu beef and it would really give Le Cellier a run for its money.  Overall World Showcase is going to be getting some big upgrades with the France Expansion underway, and a possible new pavilion coming too (Brazil?).

There is no opening date yet for the project, just that the work should see starting in the next few weeks.  Again this hasn’t been confirmed yet by Disney but it won’t be hard to tell when construction starts so stay tuned!
