Disney World Table Service Restaurants Not Giving Straws Unless Requested

Almond Orchard Review 2017 Epcot Food and Wine Festival Strawberry Smoothie

About a month ago we reported that all Disney Parks around the world are eliminating plastic straws by 2019.  Well parts of that new arrangement are already going into place as some Disney World table service restaurants are already not giving straws to guests unless specially requested now.

Numerous reports throughout Walt Disney World have said that a large number of table service restaurants have eliminated plastic straws as part of the default service with water and soft drinks, but as of now you can still request them.  They still come standard with milkshakes as far as we know.

Disney is trying to move away from plastic straws as they make a stronger commitment to the environment and when they are completely eliminated from all Disney parks by mid-2019, they will save over 175 million straws annually and 13 million stirrers.  That’s a lot of green right there.  So it seems this new thing of not giving guests plastic straws already by default is preparing for the transition and they will be monitoring the reaction from Walt Disney World guests around property.

We’ll keep you posted as to any changes with this situation…
