Disney World Uber-like Service Coming Soon

Walt Disney World is now hiring drivers for a new Uber-like transportation system. This system would bring guests “door to door” throughout the Disney World Resort be it Parks or any of the different points on property.

Vehicles may be electric-powered, with technologies informing guests about Disney World and helping them with anything they need. Disney is looking for cast members throughout the company who have been working there at least one year, which tells you that they are looking for people with experience who will make it a great service for the guests.

Some guests might be hesitant to use the real Uber service, not being familiar with how it works. This might give Disney a chance to break those people in by putting their seal of approval. I’m not sure how thrilled I am as I’m not sure the need for it. Disney already offers transportation to and from the parks, so it will probably be used more from resort to resort. It will probably be for people who are in a hurry to make their dining reservations or maybe for some who just don’t want to wait.

No word yet on exactly when this service will become available or how much it will be. Don’t expect it to be cheap, it will probably be about what Uber is or a bit more, which makes it just about like a cab, which defeats the purpose. And will Disney somehow be able to keep Uber drivers off property? We’ll find out shortly…

WDW does have a transportation system but, if you want to go from your hotel to somewhere other than a park it is going to take more than an hour. Example you are at the contemporary and you want to go to Todd English's Blue Zoo to eat. You are looking at at least an hour trip to get there. Maybe 2 hours. I have waited for more than 1 hour at Animal Kingdom bus stops to get back to another park, and then a 20 minute bus ride.

Hi, Ziggy. I just want to know, If I use my magic band at a restaurant, can my guests, who also have their magic bands, pay separately. Or will the entire meal be charged to me?
