This is a Guardians of the Galaxy Coaster Construction Update. Right now the Guardians of the Galaxy Coaster foundation is being installed in Epcot’s Future World and progress on the site is visible from various points throughout Epcot. In fact @Bioreconstruct go some great shots from the monorail that show the construction site. Let’s take a look to see what’s new!
Here’s a shot of the Guardians of the Galaxy rollercoaster site and the foundation being installed for the attraction show building. Notice the huge cranes being used for the project:
Here’s a close-up shot of the Guardians of the Galaxy foundation installation. The section of land being used for the attraction is huge. In fact, the Guardians of the Galaxy coaster is going to be one of the longest indoor rollercoasters in the world. It will also have extensive pre-show areas before entering the coaster where lots of storytelling elements will be implemented.
Even from World Showcase, you can see those big cranes doing work at on the Guardians of the Galaxy show building:
Just over a week ago we got some leaked images of the Guardians of the Galaxy ride vehicle and it looks revolutionary. The vehicle will even be able to turn 360 degrees on the track, but be controlled by Disney Imagineering, which will be critical in the storytelling as there will probably be many screens to watch like in Guardians of the Galaxy Mission: BREAKOUT!
Of course this project is just getting started so we’ll continue to bring you updates as it moves along. Right now there isn’t any opening date from Disney, but it will definitely be open for the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World in 2021, possibly sooner.
