Siemens Ending Sponsorship with Disney Parks, Questions for Spaceship Earth and Illuminations

Siemens Ending Sponsorship with Disney ParksWhat has been rumored now for a bit today is confirmed, that is Siemens ending Sponsorship with Disney parks.  Siemens has been a corporate sponsor within the Disney parks since 2007, sponsoring Spaceship Earth and Illuminations: Reflections of Earth in Epcot and It’s a Small World in Disneyland Park and in the past sponsored the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights via Sylvania (a Siemens company).

The news broke today from @lielder3 on Twitter:

This news that Siemens chose not to renew their contract isn’t coming as a huge shock, as this was rumored to be the probable outcome.  What will happen to Spaceship Earth and Illuminations: Reflections of Earth?  This news goes in line with the rumors we’ve been hearing about a change to the Spaceship Earth attraction and a replacement fireworks show for Illuminations: Reflections of Earth.  Especially the later now seems inevitable, and in fact was one of my Top Rumored Announcements for the D23 Expo coming up July 14-16.

I guess we’ll have to stay tuned to see what the fate will be of these two beloved Epcot attractions…

Your Thoughts:

I want to know what you think about the news of Siemens ending sponsorship with Disney parks.  Do you think Disney should have tried harder to keep them on?  What would you like to see done to Spaceship Earth and Illuminations now?  Let us know in the comments section below!
