Disney’s Hotel New York The Art of Marvel Opening Delayed Until March

Back at the D23 Expo, Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek announced the “re-Imagination” of the Disney’s Hotel New York into a new Marvel-themed wonderland called Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel. The hotel is inspired by a New York art gallery, a tribute to the city where Marvel was born, and your favorite super heroes came to life.

This one of a kind hotel will showcase the dynamic, inspiring world of Super Heroes with theming including Iron Man, The Avengers, and Spider-Man among others in a contemporary art gallery style.

Disney has now announced that the opening for Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel has now been delayed until March 8, 2021.

That means reservations from June 15, 2020 – March 7, 2021, are being canceled, and no new reservations can be made during those dates.

Originally The Art of Marvel Hotel was supposed to open on June 15, 2020. However, due to the Disneyland Paris closure and all the uncertainties around it that date is no longer possible. Another opening date of November 1, 2020, was then set, but Disney decided they wouldn’t be ready in time and it’s best to wait until the Spring.

Anyone with reservations from June 15, 2020 – March 7, 2021, has two options:

1. Get a full refund for the entire price of your booking
2. Get a voucher for the same price, valid for 18 months at Disneyland Paris, or rebook a similar holiday to the original booking at the same price and with the same conditions as Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel.

In order to make the needed changes to your reservation you have 2 options:

• Reservation made directly through Disney – Fill out the electronic form, or call Disney directly using the phone number listed on your confirmation email.
• Reservations through a travel agent – Contact your travel agent and they can help you make the necessary changes to your booking.

If you have a reservation for The Art of Marvel Hotel on March 8, 2021, or AFTER, you have options.

1. Continue with your reservation as normal. Dates from March 8, 2021, and after are still confirmed at this time.
2. Get a full 100% refund for the entire price of your booking.
3. Change your reservation dates with no charge or penalties.

This is obviously a disappointment for anyone who had reservations and was looking forward to going during the canceled dates. This is understandable since there is so much uncertainty in Europe right now and there is no guarantee that it will necessarily open in March either .

We’re happy at least Disney is offering full refunds and letting guests with reservations in or outside the cancelation period get a refund or change dates.

The Art of Marvel Hotel Info

Created by legendary British artist Matt Ferguson, this Art Deco-style piece depicts the Super Heroes standing together in front of a dizzying New York skyscraper, also featuring Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel and other famous Marvel monuments like the Avengers Tower.

Stays at Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel include the limited-time offer of “half board” which includes one lunch or dinner per night of your stay. You can use those credits to try one of the hotel’s 2 new restaurants: Manhattan Restaurant and Downtown Restaurant. Both of these locations are of course inspired by New York with Manhattan Restaurant being an elegant table service meal, while Downtown Restaurant a cosmopolitan buffet.

Disneyland Paris is re-imagining one of its resort hotels Disney’s Hotel New York into The Art of Marvel Hotel.  Expect it to showcase the dynamic, inspiring world of Super Heroes with theming including including Iron Man, The Avengers, and Spider Man among others in a contemporary art gallery style.

In the shot above you can see a sneak peek inside one of the rooms of The Art of Marvel Hotel.  Notice how everything is of course themed to Marvel.  I’m loving that Iron Man poster over the bed!!

While The Art of Marvel won’t be exactly as immersive as the Star Wars Hotel, you can see Disney is really investing in hotel theming moving forward and I love the fact that Marvel is getting used.  It has so many great characters to draw from, there’s a limitless number of possibilities for the future.  Here’s hoping we get something similar stateside eventually.

This is a nice step towards renovating Disneyland Paris and surely just the first of many steps to improving the Disneyland Resort.  Next, they need to get some new attractions, particularly in Disney Studios Park there.  We know about the Avengers Campus coming there in the next few years including Marvel attractions, which should really give a shot of life into the park which desperately needs it.
