New Details about Main Street Theater in Disney’s Magic Kingdom

Since the D23 Expo when Disney announced a new Main Street Theater coming to Disney’s Magic Kingdom, we’ve eagerly been awaiting more news.  Now today we have some.  According to wdwnt.com, the new broadway-style theater will hold approximately 2000 guests, with the seating divided as 1500 on the floor level and 500 of the on the mezzanine level.

Anyone who has been to the Hyperion Theater will recognize the style immediately, just not as tall or steep.  There will also be two sets of restrooms connected with the Main Street Theater, one inside and another outside.  This will be good whether you are waiting in line or already in watching the performance.

This project is also known inside the Disney company as: “MK-1” as it begins to undergo construction.  No final word yet on when the opening will be, but the plan is for May 2020.  We know the shows will be similar to broadway style ones, like Frozen in Disney California Adventure, but we’re still waiting to hear exactly what show will be coming so stay tuned….
